The network technology
was very old - the narrow bandwidth caused important problems.

“We went to a 3D modeling system so our mold makers and machinists can see the designs in 3D…we’re
trying to keep errors from reaching the machines by catching them on the screen beforehand...” The very sophisticated,
expensive machinery needs 50-80Mb files in order to perform the required CAD-CAM operations. Sending files via the old network
took 25 minutes of very expensive downtime - idling machines and operators.
